Deezer introduces AI-generated song tags to combat music streaming fraud.

Deezer, the Paris-based music streaming service, announced Friday that it will begin labeling albums containing AI-generated songs as part of its effort to combat streaming fraud.

The platform is facing a growing wave of music created with artificial intelligence tools, which it says are increasingly being used to fraudulently collect royalties.

To address the issue, Deezer will add on-screen warnings noting “AI-generated content” and alert listeners when some tracks on an album were made using song-generating technology.

While Deezer remains a smaller player in the music streaming space — which is largely dominated by Spotify, Apple, and Amazon — the company says AI-generated music poses a challenge for the entire industry. CEO Alexis Lanternier emphasized Deezer’s commitment to “protecting the rights of artists and songwriters” as copyright laws face new pressures from the rise of AI training practices.
