The United States is suspending certain arms deliveries to Ukraine due to concerns over the depletion of its own military stockpiles, officials said Tuesday — a development that could hinder Ukraine’s efforts to repel intensifying Russian offensives.
Some of the munitions were initially pledged under the Biden administration to bolster Ukraine’s defenses during the ongoing conflict, now in its fourth year. The halt comes as the Trump administration recalibrates its priorities, following a Pentagon review that flagged low inventory levels.
“This choice reflects a commitment to prioritize America’s strategic interests,” said White House spokesperson Anna Kelly. “Our military strength is not in doubt — just ask Iran,” she added, referencing Trump’s recent order for U.S. missile strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
