NBA stars set to debut as filmmakers at Summer League festival alongside Kevin Garnett, Mark Wahlberg, and Deon Taylor.

Lights, camera, layup—NBA stars are stepping behind the lens.

The NBA Summer League is offering players a new kind of shot—this time in filmmaking. Backed by Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett and Hollywood heavyweights Mark Wahlberg and Deon Taylor, the Summer League Film Festival returns to Las Vegas on July 17.

The three-day event will showcase 34 film projects, featuring stories produced by current and former NBA players such as Nikola Jokić, Luguentz Dort, Tony Allen, Nate Robinson, Cole Anthony, Keyon Dooling, and Udonis Haslem.

“We’ve got a lot of NBA players who own production companies,” said Garnett, cofounder of Content King Studios and 2008 NBA champion with the Boston Celtics.

Garnett added that the goal is to spotlight filmmakers who tell authentic, real-world stories.
