Michael Busch and the Cubs lit up Wrigley Field with a record-breaking power display on the Fourth of July, launching eight home runs — the most in franchise history — in an 11-3 rout of the Cardinals.
Busch led the charge with a career-best three homers and five RBIs, going 4-for-4 in front of a roaring crowd of over 40,000. Pete Crow-Armstrong added two more blasts as the Cubs cruised to their fourth straight win.
“It was just a fun game to be a part of,” Busch said. “To do it on July Fourth at Wrigley, with that kind of excitement, it’s something I’ll never forget.”
His second home run smashed into the right-field video board, following a similar shot by Crow-Armstrong, in a game full of early fireworks. Reflecting on the moment, Busch added, “You grow up dreaming of playing in the big leagues… to stitch your name in the Cubs record books is pretty cool.”
