Trump and Senator Dave McCormick join forces to boost energy investment in Pennsylvania.

President Donald Trump and Pennsylvania Senator David McCormick are set to announce approximately $70 billion in energy investments during a joint appearance in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. The announcement coincides with Trump’s visit to the city for a high-profile conference aimed at advancing his energy and technology agenda.

The event — the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit — will be hosted at Carnegie Mellon University and is designed to position Pittsburgh as a center for robotics, artificial intelligence, and energy innovation. It comes as both political and business leaders in the state work to transform the region into a national tech and energy hub.

Trump has consistently promoted the idea of achieving U.S. “energy dominance” on the global stage, with Pennsylvania — a key swing state in both the 2016 and 2024 elections — playing a central role due to its significant coal resources. His administration has taken steps to support the state’s coal industry as part of that broader strategy.

Although specifics of the $70 billion investment package have not been disclosed by either the White House or McCormick’s office, the senator — a first-term Republican and lead organizer of the summit — says the goal is to unite major energy firms, AI innovators, global investors, and labor leaders around Trump’s energy agenda. He believes the initiative could generate tens of thousands of new jobs across Pennsylvania.
