A new AP-NORC poll shows that most Americans view the high cost of child care as a serious concern, with strong support for measures like free or affordable day care and mandatory paid family leave for new parents.
However, opinions are split on how best to address the issue and the extent of the government’s involvement.
Roughly 75% of U.S. adults consider child care expenses a major problem, but only about half believe that helping working families cover these costs should be a top federal priority.
