Aaron Judge is expected to be activated by the Yankees on Tuesday, the first day he’s eligible to return from the 10-day injured list after being sidelined with a flexor strain in his right elbow. The Yankees hope their captain and two-time AL MVP can help reverse their recent slide.
Manager Aaron Boone confirmed Judge’s availability for Tuesday’s game—the second in their three-game series against the Texas Rangers—following the team’s fourth straight loss, an 8-5 defeat in 10 innings on Monday.
“Judge tomorrow,” Boone said briefly when asked about the slugger’s return.
Boone previously mentioned that Judge would likely serve as designated hitter initially, and he could begin playing catch while in Texas to determine when he might resume duties in the outfield.
Judge, who had been rehabbing at the Yankees’ complex in Tampa and faced minor league pitching for a second straight day on Monday, joined the team in Texas for the series opener but did not speak to reporters afterward.
