Key reports on climate change impacts in the U.S. have been taken down from government websites.

Legally required U.S. national climate assessments have vanished from the federal websites intended to host them, complicating access for local governments and the public seeking reliable information on climate risks in their regions.

Experts emphasized that these peer-reviewed, science-based reports play a crucial role in saving lives and reducing costs by guiding preparedness and policy. As of Monday and Tuesday, the websites for both the national climate assessments and the U.S. Global Change Research Program were offline, offering no redirects or explanations.

The White House stated that, to remain in compliance with the law, the assessments would now be housed under NASA’s oversight—but provided no specific timeline or location. Searches across NASA’s platforms yielded no results, and the agency did not respond to requests for clarification. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which has historically helped coordinate these reports, also declined to comment despite repeated outreach.
