Sinner claims the third set 6-4, pulling ahead of Alcaraz 2-1 in the Wimbledon men’s final.

Jannik Sinner is just one set away from capturing his first Wimbledon title, holding a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 lead over defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in Sunday’s men’s final.

Sinner broke Alcaraz at 4-4 in the third set to take control of their much-anticipated showdown—coming only five weeks after their dramatic French Open clash.

Earlier, Sinner secured the second set by breaking Alcaraz in the opening game and then staying strong on serve throughout. The set wasn’t without drama: as Sinner prepared to serve at 2-1, play was briefly interrupted when a spectator popped a champagne bottle, sending a cork flying to Sinner’s feet. Alcaraz responded with a gesture of disbelief, raising both hands and shaking his head.

Despite dropping the next point, Sinner held serve to extend his lead to 3-1.

This Centre Court meeting between world No. 1 Sinner and No. 2 Alcaraz marks the first time since the Federer-Nadal era (2006–2008) that the same two players have contested both the Roland-Garros and Wimbledon finals in the same season.

The rivalry between the two 22-year-olds intensified last month in Paris, where Alcaraz mounted a comeback from two sets down to defeat Sinner in a grueling five-set French Open final that lasted nearly 5.5 hours, saving three match points along the way.
